What is an Evaluation and Early Childhood (ECT) meeting?

The CDS may recommend to parents an evaluation of the child based on the screening. The parents decide whether or not to do an evaluation. CDS helps parents choose providers to perform evaluations. Parents schedule evaluations and the written evaluations go to CDS.

At that point an Early Childhood Team (ECT) meeting is arranged by CDS. This team includes:

  • Parents
  • CDS
  • Evaluators
  • Service Providers
  • Child’s Physician

The purpose of the team meeting is to bring everyone together to discuss the needs of the child and the parents’ concerns. Parents may bring a family member, friend or advocate to the meeting if they would like. The team reviews the findings of the evaluations and determines services for your child. This is called an Individual Family Service Plan.
