When should you seek early intervention services?

If you feel your child has a delay in development of any type prior to the age of five, they can receive Early Intervention Services. You may get a referral from your child's doctor, a hospital, day care worker, or public health facility or you can make a referral yourself by calling the Child Development Services (CDS) of Maine.

Are there early intervention services for emotional or behavioral development?

Yes, services are available at the Children’s Development Services. The Maine Office of Child and Family Services provides early intervention services for children with emotional and behavioral needs. Services include assessments, evaluations, and recommend therapies.

You can access these services by calling the OCFS office in your region.
