Maine Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR)
There are limited funds
available for home modification to people with disabilities through the
Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) in Maine's Department of
Labor. Funding is approved only if you need home modification in order to
seek employment or get to work. Up to $10,000 may be available for
homeowners and up to $5,000 may be available for rental property. You
cannot use these funds towards the purchase or construction of a new
residence.
Eligibility
To qualify for this
benefit, you must:
- have a physical or mental
impairment that constitutes or results in a substantial impediment to
employment; and
- require vocational
rehabilitation services to prepare for, secure, retain, or regain
employment.
After you apply for this
grant, the DVR will determine your eligibility for services within 60
days. The DVR will review all current benefits that you may be receiving
from other state or federal sources including schools and social security
before deciding on your application for funding.
