Home and Community-based Services for Persons with Retardation

One of the services offered to through this program is respite services.  In addition to offering respite to the family caregiver, the services to the consumer may include:

• room and board
• personal service
• supervision
• skills training that enhances:
  • health
  • physical development
  • emotional development
  • behavioral development
  • self care
  • community living skills

Respite care services can take place in your home or in assisted living facilities or respite homes approved by the Office of Adults with Cognitive and Physical Disabilities Services (OACPDS). 

Eligibility

• Any age (children and adults)
• Eligible for MaineCare (Medicaid)
• Receiving Mental Retardation Services through the OACPDS.
• Be medically eligible for an ICF/MR (Intermediate Care Facility for persons with Mental Retardation)
