One of the services offered to through this program is respite services.  In addition to offering respite to the family caregiver, the services to the consumer may include:

• room and board
• personal service
• supervision
• skills training that enhances:
  • health
  • physical development
  • emotional development
  • behavioral development
  • self care
  • community living skills

Respite care services can take place in your home or in assisted living facilities or respite homes approved by the Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services. 

Eligibility

• Any age (children and adults)
• Eligible for MaineCare (Medicaid)
• Receiving Mental Retardation Services or Children's Services through the Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services
• Be medically eligible for an ICF/MR (Intermediate Care Facility for persons with Mental Retardation)
